Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal and health information is collected through this website and in clinic, how it is stored and used, who it may be shared with, and how you can access, correct or complain about it.
Who is responsible for your information
This website is operated by Brita Golsby-Smith, Registered Nurse (Ahpra registration NMW0002327674), practising from Young Street Medical, Wollongong NSW. Brita is the person responsible for the personal information collected through this site and during consultations.
Personal and health information is handled in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles, and the Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002 (NSW).
What information is collected
Through this website: your name, email address, phone number, your baby's approximate age, any notes you choose to include in a booking or contact form, and your preferred appointment date and time.
Through payment: when you pay for a consultation, payment is processed by Stripe. Card numbers are entered directly with Stripe and are never seen or stored by this website. Brita receives only confirmation of payment, the amount, and your contact details.
During consultations: relevant health information about you and your baby, including feeding and settling history, growth measurements and observations made during the session.
Automatically: standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type and pages visited, used only to keep the site secure and working properly.
Why it is collected and how it is used
To arrange, confirm and deliver your appointment, including sending confirmations and receipts.
To provide safe, continuous clinical care and to keep the accurate clinical records that a registered nurse is required to keep.
To respond to enquiries, feedback and complaints.
To meet legal, professional and insurance obligations.
Your information is never sold, rented, or used for third-party marketing.
Who your information may be shared with
With your consent, information may be shared with your GP, child and family health nurse, paediatrician or other treating practitioner where this supports your care.
Service providers who help run the practice — such as the payment processor (Stripe), email and appointment software, and secure record storage — access only what they need to provide that service.
Without consent, information is disclosed only where the law requires or permits it, including where there is a serious risk to the safety of a child or another person, or under a court order or mandatory reporting obligation.
How your information is stored and protected
Clinical records are stored in secure, access-controlled systems with encryption in transit. Paper notes, where used, are kept in a locked cabinet.
This website is served over HTTPS, and form submissions are transmitted through your own email client or an encrypted connection.
Health records for a child are retained until the child turns 25, and adult health records for at least seven years after the last consultation, as required by NSW law. Enquiry records that do not become clinical records are kept only as long as needed and then deleted.
Cookies and website analytics
This site uses only the cookies and local storage needed for it to function, such as remembering your booking progress and completing a secure payment. It does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Embedded content, such as the Google Map showing the clinic location, is provided by Google and is subject to Google's own privacy policy.
Accessing or correcting your information
You may request access to the information held about you, or ask for it to be corrected, at any time by emailing brita.golsbysmith@icloud.com or calling 0406 530 479. Requests are usually answered within 30 days. Identity is confirmed before records are released, and in rare cases access may be limited where the law allows.
You may also ask to stop receiving appointment reminders or other messages at any time.
Making a privacy complaint
If you believe your privacy has not been respected, please raise it directly first — email brita.golsbysmith@icloud.com and you will receive an acknowledgement within five business days and a full response within 30 days.
